Spelling Dreamwork : A Creative Writing Practice

Join us in a creative dream writing workshop using the techniques of dream interpretation and narrative writing (fiction, speculative non fiction, poetry or prose) to identify, unlock, and explore the symbolic meanings of our dreams and create art from them.
In Spelling Dreamwork, we’ll spend time learning about dream work, pondering our dreams, and practicing ways to pull out the symbols of dreams to re-enliven and re-wake your imagination. Through spelling the dreamwork, we can continue the dreaming process with creative writing. We’ll get to dream deeper into our own personal and collective meanings, and create artful, helpful dream spells with our words.

Our dreams, waking or sleeping, are infused with symbols. Together we will identify symbols or themes that keep emerging and showing up. We will play with dreams that pull us, and wake us up — and practice writing an imaginal narrative around and with them - allowing a story to dance through that taps and activates unconscious meanings and patterns.

Spelling Dreamwork will include learning and discussion time, writing time, and time for reflection, questions, wonder and wondering.
Our unconscious, the dream realm, is always speaking to us even if we don’t have night dreams. Our daily lives, while awake, are another form of dreaming, we are always dreaming, especially during significant moments or events or even every day slices of awe, grief and being in and out of love. We are always dreaming. But we have forgotten this. Everything is always telling us something - awake or asleep or the in-between. In this workshop we will learn to sift through the moments, remember deeper, listen, play and create. We will dream into creation, together.
