Plus a care package of herbal remedies we will be using in class, weekly emails that include PDF downloads and video lessons. Closed captioning available.
Each week will meet to share our experiences with the plants remedies and go over the herbal and cultural info about each plant. I am keeping these classes small so that they can be as interactive and personal as possible.
The live meetings will be recorded but your live participation is encouraged.
In this class we will study the practice and used in Italian folk medicine both in Southern Italy and the Italian American diaspora as allies in ancestral connection. Plants and people co-evolved which means that our genetic DNA was shaped by the plants that our ancestors lived with, ate, and used as medicine.
This course is designed to be personal, interactive, and community building so keeping it to a small group. Please plant to attend the live meetings although they will recorded. We will add another section if need be.
Who is this for?
anyone of any descent who wants to learn how to use plants to connect with their ancestors. You do not have to be of Italian descent. The topics we will discuss here will enable you to work with plants and ancestors from any lineage.
anyone who wants to learn how plants are an integral component of human community and the creation of collective culture that includes ritual, magic, and plant spirit medicine
those of Italian descent who want to awaken and remember the wisdom of Southern Italy that lives in their bones
those that want to connect with and cultivate the folk healing ways of plant medicine for adapting and creating resilience in our current world
You will learn:
the medicinal, mythical, and magical uses of several plants from Southern Italy and used by the Italian diaspora in North America
How to do a journey/meditation with a plant spirit
The basics of Italian Folk Medicine plant preparations
How to use plants for protection/apotropaic magic
Prayers, spells, incantations
Dream incubation from the tradition of the Asclepian dream temples
How to use plants as a means to connecting with your ancestors and your ancestral memories
A basic understanding of Italian folk medicine and how the paesani (peasants) and contadini (farmers) of Southern Italy used the cycle of seasons and the four elements to invoke healing and maintain health.
Some unexpected and unplanned wisdoms that always emerge when a group gathers to connect with plants and ancestors

Slack group where we can meet and share our experiences as well as ask each other questions and just basically connect with other ancestral plant lovers.
***shipping outside of the US is tricky right now, depending on the place, because of international shipping delays. Things are changing daily so if you want to receive a package and your international, I can check in at the time of shipping to see if the process is moving any more swiftly.
Everyone will be provided a materials list. If it’s not possible to acquire what you need, we I can offer some “hacks” or alternatives.

Requirements for class:
You will need to use zoom to attend the live meetings. These meetings will be recorded but live attendance is highly recommended to establish a group connection and resonance.

About Lisa
My work is multidisciplinary, multidimensional, and emergent from many systems including
Traditional Western Herbalism : Italian Folk Magic : Astrology : Plant Spirit Medicine : Benedicaria
I am the descendant of Irish and Italian immigrants and live and work where all of my people first settled Turtle Island among the foothills of the Adirondacks in what is now known as New York State.
I am a practitioner of Benedicaria (the blessing way) and Lineage witch as a granddaughter of the city of Benevento, Italy, La Citta Delle Streghe, the city of witches and of the ancient village of my Nonno, Feroleto Antico in Calabria. Benedicaria is the practice of Italian folk healing practiced by many of the indigenous peoples of Italy including my bisnonna (great-grandmother). My grandmother(Nonna) was born in Benevento where my great-grandmother was a known witch who could dispell the curse of the Malocchio (the evil eye) as well as other physical and spiritual ailments using traditional, indigenous Italian healing methods.
